Meta, one of the biggest technology companies of today, is shown as a rival of Twitter. threads app on 6th of July implements it.
The social networking app is already listed on the App Store with the option to pre-order. There is a home page for the service or a web page that does not contain any other detailed information yet.
The official name of Meta’s upcoming Twitter competitor is “Threads, an Instagram app” and as the app screenshots suggest, users will be able to sign up via their Instagram account and automatically migrate their username, followers, and other account information. The new social media app is called “Instagram’s text-to-speech app” and will have an app interface similar to Instagram.
Posts will come with options to like, comment, repost and share, and will offer threads for better user interaction. Users will also be able to add images to their posts. Reportedly, Threads uses ActivityPub, a decentralized social media protocol also used by Mastodon. Details about the application are expected to be clarified with the introduction.
