Elon Musk has become the most talked about name of recent days. Musk, who made major changes to the social media platform after purchasing Twitter, was finally exposed to criticism from users with his “use limit” statement. Although the decisions Musk made were surprising to many, the real curiosity was why Musk made these decisions. Finally, author Walter Isaacson, who wrote the biography of Elon Musk and observed Musk’s daily life for about two years, made quite striking claims about the famous billionaire.

Walter Isaacson has suggested that the billionaire can sometimes go into “devil mode” to be very productive, but this can make him “dark” and act with a “serious lack of empathy.”
Isaacson claimed the term “devil mode” was coined by artist Grimes, Musk’s ex-girlfriend and mother of two of his children.
MANY ARE GOING TO “MONSTER MODE”
It is said that it can be beneficial for leaders to switch to a kind of ‘monster mode’ from time to time, such as during a corporate crisis or when deciding whether layoffs are the only way to effectively cut costs and keep investors happy.
That’s exactly why many of the successful people he’s written about, including Steve Jobs, do just that, Isaacson argues.
Isaacson noted that these leaders place less weight on empathy and are able to focus on the bigger picture issues.

But Isaacson suggested that in Musk’s case, his dark streak sometimes really hinders business and scares employees.
According to Insider, Isaacson suggested this was particularly the case when his employees weren’t keeping up with his “frantic sense of urgency.”

However, the author’s statement about Musk, “I knew that when he went to the dark side, I knew he would shatter that person” also attracted a lot of attention.
Walter Isaacson added that this happened frequently when Musk took over Twitter and introduced mass layoffs.
On the other hand, according to Isaacson’s estimates, Musk’s criticism of employees was constructive about 80 percent of the time, but “problematic” about 20 percent of the time.
Allegedly, the author also observed that in some cases, the employee who was scolded by Musk had recently disrupted his work due to serious extenuating circumstances, such as the death of his child.
Isaacson also claims that Musk told him he thought it was “selfish” to empathize with one person rather than prioritizing the larger goal at hand.
