Evgeny Prigojin, the leader of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, which started a short-lived rebellion in Russia last June, shared a voice message on his social media accounts and stated that they needed the support of the people more than ever.
Describing the armed advance they started in Moscow as a “justice march”, Prigojin said, “Our march for justice aimed to fight the traitors and mobilize the society. I think we have largely succeeded in this.”
Answering the question of whether Wagner will be disbanded, Prigojin signaled that Wagner’s activities will continue, using the expressions “I am sure you will see our imminent victories at the front soon”.
ACTIVITY SUSPENDED
In a post made on a Telegram channel known as Wagner’s official social media account, it was noted that “Wagner’s regional fighter procurement centers have been suspended for one month due to Wagner’s temporary non-participation in the special military operation and his relocation to Belarus.”
WAGNER REVOLT
Yevgeniy Prigojin, the founder of the private security company Wagner, accused the Russian army of organizing an attack on Wagner on June 23 and threatened to respond. Wagner fighters left Ukraine and entered the Rostov region on the border.
Upon this situation, the Federal Security Service (FSB) opened a criminal case on the charge of “armed riot”. Russian President Vladimir Putin described Wagner’s rebellion as “treason”. Prigojin announced that they would go to Moscow, and the Kremlin administration had increased security measures in many parts of the country.
It was reported that Yevgeny Prigojin accepted on June 24, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s proposal to de-escalate tensions in Russia. Prigojin announced that they understood the responsibility for the shedding of Russian blood and that they would turn their convoys back and return to the field camps according to plan.
