Atlantis lost their important match to Grankulla IFK with last-minute goals. Goalkeeper Sammy Ndjocki’s contract was terminated immediately after the match.
The men’s Kakkones saw a special end to the match on Sunday, when Grankulla IFK faced Helsinki’s Atlantis FC.
The Helsinki club led the game with goals 2–1 ten minutes before the end of the actual game time. However, GrIFK scored three more goals and won the match 4–2.
The goals that brought victory were scored by a goalkeeper who also played for RoPS in the Veikkausliiga by Sammy Ndjocki to incomprehensible mistakes. Atlantis terminated Ndjocki’s contract immediately after the match.
– He messed up so badly that we had to cancel the contract, the team’s head coach Moshood Bola tells.

Also in Finland, football has received a lot of publicity because of match-fixing. After the GrIFK–Atlantis match, social media began to doubt whether Ndjocki’s failures were related to betting.
– I can’t speculate about it when I don’t have any evidence. And as the head coach, I can’t speculate on that, Bola states.
He says that the cancellation of the contract is because a professional player fumbles in such a significantly important match.
– A goalkeeper of that magnitude cannot fail so badly. It is obvious that he cannot continue with us.
Bola emphasizes that the team is playing for a place in Ykkönen’s promotion qualification. According to him, the whole team was very disappointed after the lost match. Atlantis is still at the top of Group B of Kakkonen, but lost three important points in just a few minutes.
– Nothing can be done about it, but I had to do something as the head coach. The situation is quite sad, but also part of football. Sometimes players have to be moved aside in the middle of the season.
The team does not have a clear first goalkeeper after Ndjocki’s departure. Bola says that the 20-year-old Anwar Abdi just returned to team strength from military service. Adbi has played one match in the men’s second division this season.
– We are now talking with the club management and thinking about what to do. The transfer window will open soon (July 17), so we will also explore other options, says Bola.
