However, few people knew Jonas Vingegaard before the start of the 2022 Grande Boucle. “Even we in Denmark did not know him before the start”, his compatriot Michael Rasmussen told the Parisian last summer. Initially not having to take the start of the Tour, Vingegaard had finally replaced Tom Dumoulin, the leader of the Jumbo-Visma team, a year earlier. Like ordinary mortals, the runner had to get a job before making a career in sport, in exchange for remuneration.
