BUNSCHOTEN-SPAKENBURG – Cameras, police, traffic measures, stewards and security guards. With these extra safety measures, the football derby between IJsselmeervogels and Spakenburg can continue.

After serious riots with the ‘Harde Kern Spakenburg’, the duel might have been banned, but Mayor Melis of the Group says that the approach has always been to let the fishing derby continue. “After mapping out the risks and the measures required to ensure that things are done responsibly, we have succeeded.”

According to the mayor, the derby in itself does not give any special reason to assume that everything will go wrong. “We have a lot of experience with that and it has been going very well for the past fifteen years, but there are now special circumstances due to the activities of the so-called HKS group.”

Extra measures are therefore being taken on and outside the sports park, which, according to the mayor, should include the deployment of supervisors, traffic measures and cameras. He does not want to say whether additional agents are standing by. “We do not make any announcements about the amount of police and who plays a role in it. But we are confident that it can be a fun football party with the picture that is now there.”

Club Responsibilities

The football clubs are responsible for the progress on the field and ticket sales, especially IJsselmeervogels, which plays at home. Stewards and security guards are deployed, among other things, with support from the playing club. “The scenarios that apply to the derby have been tightened,” says Van de Groep.

All tickets can be sold. The supporters of both clubs are welcome and there is no alcohol ban. It is the first time since October 2019 that the Visserderby is played between IJsselmeervogels and Spakenburg. After that, the corona crisis always threw a spanner in the works. “It is also important for the village that the competition can take place again and that people enjoy it.”
