Pokémon GO launches Dark Flames event tomorrow

In Pokémon GO, the Dark Flames event will run from June 29th. This brings you new monsters, cool spawns, powerful bonuses and the ability to choose what happens. We at MeinMMO show you all the content of the event.

What is this event? In Pokémon GO, June ends with the Dark Flames event, which will focus on Fire and Dark Pokémon. In keeping with this, there will be wild spawns and various bonuses. The two Pokémon Tortunator and Mega Zobiris also make their debut in the game.

Unlike other events of this type, you also have the opportunity for the first time to determine certain content of the game yourself. We have summarized below how this works, what influence your decision has and what spawns and bonuses await you.

When does the event start? The Dark Flame event starts on June 29, 2023 at 10:00 local time and is active until July 02, 2023 at 20:00 local time.

Choose between Fire and Dark Pokémon for the first time

What content can you vote on? The Dark Flames event has a special feature in store for you for the first time: You can choose which Pokémon type you prefer. You can choose between fire and dark. Depending on the choice you made, it will affect the following content of the event:

  • The selected type spawns from the smoke more frequently (except from adventure smoke)
  • Tasks in temporary research
  • Content of the Collector’s Challenge

    • Where to choose the type? You can choose your choice in the time-limited research, which will be active in your Today view when the event starts. This will probably work in the same way as you already know from other research with different paths.

    Of course, the appropriate bonuses should not be missing for the Dark Flames event. You can look forward to various researches, but raids can also be worthwhile. The following content awaits you:

  • 25% more XP for a raid won
  • 3 additional candies for won raids
  • additional XL candy for won raids (from trainer level 31)
  • Team GO Rocket Grunts appear more frequently with Fire- and Dark-type Pokémon
  • Charged attack Lava Storm if you catch Heatran from the raid
  • Smoke attracts Dark or Fire Pokémon more often (depending on the type chosen)
  • Temporary research
  • Reward: Premium Battle Pass, 15,000 XP, and event Pokémon encounter
  • Collector’s Challenge
  • Reward: 5,000 XP and 100 Mega Energy for Houndemon

    In addition to choosing your favorite type, whose type you can get more often from smoke, there will also be a lot of fire and dark Pokémon in the game again in general. So keep an eye out for them in the wild, in raids, and in event field research.

    The raid bosses will also be adjusted in time for the event start. Of these, the two new Pokémon will be of particular interest: Mega Zobiris and Tortunator, a fire and dragon Pokémon from the 7th generation of games.
