Olympic Games 2024: all-round challenges

Olympic Games 2024 river shuttles on the Seine

In just over a year, the French capital will host the Olympic Games. The countdown has started on the Paris 2024 site. The organizers say they want to break the codes, revolutionize the games and be accessible to as many people as possible, especially with the opening ceremony which will take place outside the stadium for the first time. The parade of athletes will take place on the Seine, aboard boats.

Less than 400 days from the Olympic Games, there are still many challenges to be met: security, transport, finances, ecological impact. Some gray areas also taint the preparations: searches in the context of judicial investigations for favoritism and embezzlement of public funds took place in mid-June 2023. The Court of Auditors points to uncertainties about the expenditure of the Committee of organization and ten undocumented workers take their employers to court: they say they have been exploited on the construction sites of the Olympic Village.
