In the statements made to the press by the local police sources in Catalonia, it was reported that a security personnel on duty at the Catalonia Square metro station was given a bomb alarm after hearing a clock chime and seeing a suspicious package and cables in a trash can next to it at 18:00 local time today.
After the work of the bomb disposal teams sent to the station, it was noted that there was a burglar alarm system, which was stated to carry no risk, and that the alarm was false.
It was announced that the metro station, which was evacuated for security reasons, and the three connected metro train lines, where the services were stopped, reopened after about 1.5 hours and returned to normal.
In another incident that took place yesterday afternoon in Barcelona, the station and its surroundings were evacuated after an anonymous tip was received that there was a bomb in a train coming to the Catalonia Square metro station, one of the most used lines of the city, and the flights were resumed after about 20 minutes when it was understood that it was a false alarm.
