There were no new COVID-19 deaths in Chatham-Kent, but one more outbreak reported, according to public health officials.

While there were no new COVID-19 deaths in Chatham-Kent, one more outbreak was reported, public health officials said Monday.

The outbreak – declared at the Wallaceburg Retirement Residence – had 15 cases as of Monday. There were four active outbreaks in Chatham-Kent in total, officials said.

Seventy-two new cases were reported since last Friday’s update. The seven-day rolling average was at 21 squares.

Twenty people remain in hospital, with six primarily being treated for the virus, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance reported. One patient was in intensive care but wasn’t being primarily treated for COVID-19.

On Monday, the province reported 842 people hospitalized and 281 in intensive care due to COVID-19.

This was a drop from 1,056 in hospital and 324 in intensive care a week ago.

There were nine more COVID-19 deaths.

In total, there were 2,001 new COVID-19 cases being reported, which is likely an underestimate due to testing capacity.
