Snake was found in the bed of a tourist family in Gothenburg

When a tourist family was visiting Gothenburg, they were joined by an unannounced guest in the rental apartment.
– They had found a snake in the bed that was not theirs, says Roberto Tomé, municipal police in Gothenburg City.

One meter long and yellowish brown with red spots. This is what the uninvited guest looked like, which the son found wriggling under the covers.

– The snake had ended up in the apartment in an unclear way and the family that rented the apartment had nothing to do with it. Then we had to send a patrol to take care of the snake, says Roberto Tomé.

The family, who were forced to flee the apartment in the middle of the night, were visiting Gothenburg to attend a Bruce Springsteen concert. In connection with this, the patrol took the liberty of giving the snake an appropriate name.

– It thought it was appropriate to call it Bruce, says Roberto Tomé.

“Definitely not that nice”

With the help of a police colleague experienced in reptiles, it was quickly established that it was a non-venomous corn snake.

– It is a reptile that you buy and is not a natural Swedish snake that is part of our fauna, says Tomé.

Corn snakes have their natural habitat in the southeastern United States.

The snake was taken into the care of the animal ambulance later in the night, but the owner of the snake has still not been found.

– Thank God there was no poisonous snake and everything went well. On the other hand, going to bed with a snake in bed is probably not very pleasant.

The owner is currently not suspected of any crime.
