Football (Micro) Manager 2023

Who is the game for? Football Manager is sort of like FIFA’s nerdy brother. Developer Sports Interactive has a clear focus on realism and offers you countless possibilities to manage your team down to the smallest detail.

In addition to the actual games, you also take care of transfers, training, PR… or you leave the tedious tasks to your digital employees and only focus on the parts that you really enjoy.

Football Manager 2023 is therefore just right for football fans who like to micro-manage and come up with sophisticated strategies. If you instead value fast action and polished graphics, you’re probably better off with FIFA.

How good is the game? On Steam, Football Manager 2023 is the second highest rated soccer game with an overall positive rating of 87%, just behind Pro Soccer Online with 92%. From the recent reviews, FM can even convince in 91% of the cases.

We’ve put together a few reviews for you:

  • XTurnerX: “Absolute heaven for people who have always been fed up with career mode in FIFA.”
  • BudSPencer: “I haven’t played many games other than the FM series for years. For real soccer fans or aspiring coaches in RL, the perfect soccer simulation to spend hours in stats or tactics drafting.”
  • c0mr4d3_cl4u5: “It remains the best manager sim out there and thanks to a great community it’s as immersive as it gets.”
  • Other reviews also refer again and again to the high potential for addiction, which leads to almost endless hours in the game. One Steam user even jokes after 700 hours of play that he hasn’t played enough to get a good feel for the game.

Others, however, complain about the rather small differences to the predecessor Football Manager 2022 and the now rather outdated graphics of the “Match Engine”.

If you are still unsure whether the game is really something for you, you should take advantage of the offer and test Football Manager 2023 for free first.
