Strong demand boosts the aviation industry

The CEO is interviewed by the Wall Street Journal in connection with the air show in Paris. Just like competitor Boeing, it now has full order books, after among others the Indian airline Indigo recently placed a record order for 500 Airbus aircraft. Competitor Air India has in turn ordered a total of 470 planes from Boeing together with Airbus.

Both companies are simultaneously grappling with challenges such as a lack of everything from engines to employees who can work in production.

So far this year, according to the Wall Street Journal, orders have been placed for a total of just over 1,400 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing combined. There are already more now than in the whole of 2019 before the pandemic broke out. While the two aircraft giants previously had about half each of the total aircraft market, there is now a certain advantage for Airbus with a market share of 62 percent.
