From store opening to store fire: “It feels terrible”

During the night, extensive extinguishing work has been underway, with up to 21 fire engines on site. It was not until Thursday morning that the emergency services were able to establish that the fire was no longer active.

Michael Gustafsson works as Sweden manager at Jula and was yesterday at the opening of a new store in Strömstad.

– I got the message when I was handing out flyers. I threw myself in the car and drove all night to get here, says Michael Gustafsson.

Crisis meeting for the staff

On Thursday morning, Jula’s staff could gather for a crisis meeting at a nearby hotel.

– We offer all the support we can to them right now. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

So far, it is not possible to say when the store can open again, but Michael Gustafsson hopes that it can happen as soon as possible.

– As soon as possible, but it is impossible to say now. I don’t know the extent of the damage, says the Swedish manager.
