The municipality of Pajala must pay a penalty fee of almost SEK 1.8 million to the County Board in Norrbotten for having caused a vulnerability for Sweden’s security, reports P4 Norrbotten.

The reason is that the municipality failed in its application of the Safety Protection Act, which according to the county administrative board could lead to serious consequences.

The deficiencies were discovered in connection with an inspection by the municipality at the end of last year. However, it is unclear how the municipality broke down because parts of the documents are classified, according to the radio.

Privacy protection is about protecting activities that are important to Sweden’s security against espionage, sabotage, terrorist crimes and certain other threats.
