Nine Egyptian men, identified as the crew of the migrant boat that sank off the coast of Greece last week, have been detained on suspicion of people smuggling, a judicial source told AFP.

According to the UN, up to 500 people are still missing after the disaster. About 80 bodies have been pulled out of the water, 104 people have been rescued.

The men were arrested in the port of Kalamata, Greece, after having survived the tragedy themselves.
