On Monday, the government appointed an inquiry to review the regulations surrounding political lotteries. According to the directives, the investigator must investigate how the lotteries could be stopped completely, without affecting other public purposes such as cultural or sports.
According to Mats Knutson, it is the Social Democrats who are the target of the new legislation:
– They are the only parliamentary party that sells lotteries on a large scale in Sweden.
Investigates party funding
At the same time, the government appoints another investigation that concerns party financing in general. Even there, Mats Knutson believes, that the sights are set on the Social Democrats.
– You must review and require consent from members of, for example, trade unions so that they can give money to political parties. We know that the Social Democrats also receive a lot of money from certain trade unions.
Mats Knutson believes that the tone within Swedish politics will become more irreconcilable.
– This means that there will be a clearly higher level of conflict.
