After Netflix and Amazon (with Freevee) made their way into this area, WOW is following suit. As DWDL reports, the streaming service from Sky will soon be available in a more affordable version that relies on commercial breaks. In this text we have all important information about the new subscription summarized.
How does the WOW subscription work in general?
At WOW you can currently choose between four different packages, which primarily focus on content:
It doesn’t matter which package you choose: Until now, there was only one fixed price per package and no tiers that make the offer cheaper or more expensive. For comparison: Netflix attracts more expensive subscriptions with better picture quality. This model takes WOW as a model and offers two different subscription levels an.Subscription level no. 1: WOW with advertising
If you want to pay less money, you can choose the advertising-supported subscription option at WOW in the future. Strictly speaking you save five euros, according to the DWDL report. Depending on the package (series, films & series, live sports), you get exactly the same content as in the premium subscription. The only difference: You have to watch ads in between. However, details are still missing: We do not currently know whether the 5 euros will be deducted from each subscription level, i.e. you will only pay 2.99 euros for WOW series with advertising in the future.
Subscription level #2: WOW Premium
The previous WOW subscription now automatically becomes WOW Premium, no extra charge, no hidden additional costs. Existing WOW customers received Other advantages. In contrast to the new entry-level offer, you can not only watch WOW without advertising. The picture is upgraded from 720p to 1080p, while the sound is delivered in Dolby Digital 5.1.
There is one advertising exception. Regardless of whether you opt for Premium or not: WOW often shows a short trailer at the beginning of a film or series that advertises its own streaming offer. You can’t skip this ad, you have to watch it every time before a new title. These are mostly movies and series that are new to WOW or are arriving in the coming weeks.
What series and films are there on WOW?
Blockbusters from Warner and Sony have an exclusive deal with Sky, so that blockbusters like James Bond 007 – No Time to Die and Dune land first in Germany with WOW in the flat rate. WOW is also worthwhile because of the series, as productions from the American premium broadcaster HBO stream here exclusively: this year, for example, this applies to the celebrated seasons of Succession and The Last of Us.
