Announced for more than 2 years, the video game Avatar Frontiers of Pandora finally revealed its gameplay during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11, 2023 and the rumors were right, it will indeed be a first-person action game. A choice that is not unanimous among the players, some of them hoped to see their character from behind. But for the developers of Massive Entertainment, the FPS view was more legitimate to better transport us to the environments of Pandora. Ubisoft has not done things by halves, revealing two videos. The first is nothing but a gameplay trailer, while the second goes further in the explanations, with the participation of the creators of the game. We learn that the story will put us in the shoes of a Na’Vi, ripped from his people by the Humans who hope to brainwash him and turn him against his own race. He has therefore learned the basics of war and how to handle firearms, but a war will plunge our character into a state of emergency cryonics. When he wakes up, 15 years later, he has become a stranger on his own planet and will therefore have to relearn how to be adopted by the Na’Vis, swearing to eliminate the GDR.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora seems to have taken over a lot of gameplay elements from Far Cry Primal, especially in its way of understanding the open world, or even seducing animals to make them companions on the road and in combat. As a child of two worlds, the player will be able to use Na’Vi weapons like those of the RDA, as well as tame the air on the back of Ikran, these kinds of flying dragons.
Ubisoft took the opportunity to reveal the release date, and it’s December 7, 2023 on the game will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
