A man has been arrested in Italy, suspected of murdering a Swedish woman who disappeared 28 years ago, Corren reports, referring to Italian media.
The woman – who was 21 at the time – disappeared without a trace in Linköping in 1995. The man who has now been arrested is in his 70s and was in a relationship with the woman at the time of her disappearance. He has previously been detained on suspicion of murdering the woman, but her body could not be found and the man was released.
Magnus Roodla, head of the police department for serious crimes, is surprised by the arrest.
– We have had some cooperation with Italy and we know that they have been interested in the matter. Now during the spring they have been working on the case, but the arrest was unknown to me, he tells the newspaper.
