More people should be able to charge their electric car close to home, the government believes. The Swedish Transport Agency is now tasked with reviewing the regulations so that the municipalities can speed up the expansion of charging infrastructure.

“It should be easy to charge electric cars close to home, but those who live in apartment buildings today may have to travel a long way to be able to charge their car,” says Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson (KD) in a press release.

According to the government, charging points on so-called “public land” can often be a prerequisite for more people to be able to have an electric car.

The Swedish Transport Agency must report on the assignment in April next year.
