The same video also shows that a van, which was attached to the container with a rope to serve as an anchor for the balloon, drove a bit along. Finally, a man jumped into the vehicle and the balloon and van came to a stop. A bystander suggested that the van may not have had its handbrake on. That is not correct, says Monique Hoogeslag, who speaks on behalf of balloon company Greetzz. “The van really had the handbrake on, but it is an automatic transmission and it brakes on the rear wheels. If you look at the video, you can also see that the rear wheels do not turn.”
