Since today there is a new update for Steam, which will particularly appeal to friends of multitasking. Because the new game overlay makes it possible to watch tutorial videos on YouTube while playing – or just a film.
What is this update? The new update for Steam includes all features previously tested in a beta. They are available in mobile and desktop versions, as well as on the Steam Deck.
There was not only a visual refreshment of the Steam interface, but numerous useful functions. You can now attach notes or just watch movies while you gamble.
Which functions are these? The changes mainly affect the in-game overlay. You open this with Shift + Tab in the game. A new toolbar allows you to access your friends list, game progress, notes or browser while gaming.
In the in-game overlay, as you can see in the picture, you will find numerous options and adjustments. You can view your game progress or search for tips about the game on Steam.
You can open the windows via the menu bar in the lower part, you can move and close them as you wish. You can also pin them so that they don’t disappear into the background while gaming.
So if you’re as forgetful as I am, you could write a note that says “Get the laundry out of the machine!” and pin it. It doesn’t disappear either, but you can adjust the transparency so that it doesn’t get in the way too much.

Gambling or watching movies – or just both?
How can I watch movies while gaming? Very simple: by opening the streaming service of your choice in the web browser and selecting a film or video there.

What is this useful for? Not all of us have multiple monitors, so you always have to decide between gaming and streaming series or films, as long as you like to do it on the PC.
With the update for Steam it is now possible to watch a film, a series or YouTube videos while gaming. The window may then be quite small, but there is certainly a lot that you want to look at on the side.
You could also watch tutorials about the game or read through guides in the web browser without having to tap out of the window.
The update starts automatically, alternatively you can search for updates in the top bar. To do this, click on “Steam” and then on “Check for Steam Client Updates”.
The shop was recently updated to give players more options for searching.
