34-year-old woman in custody – being investigated for other attacks

The 34-year-old woman who is suspected of stabbing a 10-year-old girl in Ängelholm is now in custody on probable cause on suspicion of attempted murder. The police have seized items from the woman’s home – and she is also being investigated in connection with other attacks.
– There have been several other cases and we are looking at each of those cases to see if she can be linked to them. That work is in its initial stages, says Linda Seger, senior prosecutor.

The high-profile knife attack against a ten-year-old girl is said to have been unprovoked and they are said to have had no relationship with each other. According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the woman now in custody is 34 years old and had a bloody knife on her at the time of the arrest, which is described as accidental.

The girl who was attacked has been interviewed by the police, but she is still being treated in hospital.

The 34-year-old woman denies any wrongdoing.

Items seized

In connection with the woman’s arrest, the police searched the house. They then seized items to be examined.

– Items have been seized that we will look at more closely to see what significance, if any, they have, says prosecutor Linda Seger.

The woman has been cared for in the forensic psychiatric ward until the detention hearing on Thursday.

Other attacks are being investigated

Several other children have reportedly been attacked recently in the area. “The reported incidents took place between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. during the period 31/5-7/6 and were in all cases carried out by a woman,” the police wrote on social media.

– When those reports were made, it was an unknown perpetrator and what we are now looking at is whether that perpetrator could be her. Now there is a concrete person to test against, says Seger.

More interrogations are to be held both regarding the attempted murder and the other reports.

– On the one hand, the preliminary investigation will continue into the attempted murder with further questioning and we will look more closely at the seized items, and in parallel we will look at these other cases and see if they can be linked to her or not, says prosecutor Linda Seger.
