Russia wants to hold elections in Ukraine

Russia’s election commission announced that it is possible to hold elections in the four Ukrainian regions that Russia claims to have annexed, according to the Russian state-controlled Tass news agency.

The Election Commission has drawn the conclusion in consultation with Russia’s Ministry of Defense and Intelligence.

It is in the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson where there are plans to elect local governors in September, reports Reuters.

However, Russia does not have full control over the areas, and fighting is ongoing.
