Käärijä clearly won the Eurovision public votes, but lost to Sweden with the points given by the judges.
Angry fans upset by Käärjiä’s loss have bombarded the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK after the Eurovision final. According to the fans, the wise men’s council system should be abolished, or at least changed.

NRK’s project manager Thea Flinders tells the Norwegian for TV2, that the company is having discussions with the European Broadcasting Union EBU about the council system. Decisions on the subject are expected in January.
– People’s reactions show that this could be a good opportunity for the EBU to evaluate the jury system, says Flinder to TV2.
– We are talking with the EBU and we have learned that an assessment will be made and the matter will be resolved in January, he continues.
Chairman of the Norwegian Eurovision Club Morten Thomassen keep the information awaited, because Käärijä was such a clear audience favorite.
– I hope that the number of members of the national councils will be increased, and their composition will be changed so that ordinary fans can join, Thomassen tells TV2.
However, he estimates that the councils will remain, and their importance will remain. The weighting of public votes would therefore be 50 percent and council votes 50 percent.
Based on the public votes, the wrapper was the clear favorite of the wise men, but lost to Sweden in the points awarded by the jury. Finland received a total of 376 audience points and Sweden 243. From the Professional Council, Sweden received a total of 340 and Finland 150 points.
