43 tonnes of rubbish were cleared in one day
18,646 people picked up 43 tons of trash along the coasts and beaches during World Oceans Day on June 8, the environmental organization Keep Sweden clean writes in a press release.
The metropolitan municipalities accounted for the most removed tonnes: Stockholm 5.8, Gothenburg 3.8 and Malmö 1.6. Next came Kungsbacka with 1.3 tonnes.
The Bohu coast is one of Europe’s most littered coastal areas, where the equivalent of around five bathtubs of rubbish is washed up every hour, writes Håll Sverige net.
