At the age of eighteen, Ella, together with her parents, went to a specialist. “He decided, not really in consultation, that I should be treated with male hormones. That’s why I have a lower voice. I’ve become masculinized, bigger. I don’t think that’s such a disaster, but I had that lower voice would rather not.”
