In the United States, the district judge in Manhattan has decided that the journalist-writer Elizabeth Jean Carroll can challenge Donald Trump’s sued for defamation for the second time. Carroll is now demanding $10 million from Trump.
The new challenge is related to the fact that in May, a jury found Trump guilty of sexually abusing Carroll in 1996. Only a day after the verdict, Trump appeared on CNN and once again berated Carroll.
– This woman [E Jean Carroll], I do not know him. I’ve never met him. I have no idea who she is, said Trump and called the woman a wack job.
In a civil trial in May, a jury also found that Trump defamed Carroll when he called her a fraud on social media. Trump was ordered to pay Carroll a total of five million dollars.
Trump wanted the judge to dismiss the latest defamation lawsuit because the jury in the civil trial did not find Trump guilty of rape.
