  • Lukashenko: Would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons

    Russia decided in the spring to place nuclear weapons in Belarus. It was then established that it was the Kremlin that controlled these weapons.

  • Fire from shrubbery spread to the medical center

    Emergency services Syd received several calls on Saturday evening shortly after 6 pm about a fire in bushes on Höjagatan, southeast of Malmö.

    The police are using a helicopter and drone to search for a missing man in his 60s around Åkers Styckebruk.

    He was last seen by the family on Thursday and he is suspected to be in a forest environment.

    He is around 178 cm tall and at the time of his disappearance he was wearing a red cap, the police write on their website.

    The police urge the public to contact the police on 114 14 if they have seen the man.

    At 17:54 an alarm about a person in the water came to SOS Alarm.

    Emergency services and an ambulance are on site and the person is now on land.

    The extent of the damage is unclear.

  • Fire in barn

    There is a fire in a large barn in southern Ugglarp outside Genarp in Skåne.

    – We assess that there is no possibility of saving the building, so it will burn down in a controlled manner on the spot, says rescue service Syd.

    There are no reports of injuries and the emergency services are currently working to prevent the spread of the fire.

    – We will be here for many hours to come.

  • USA: Time to welcome Sweden into NATO

    After a meeting in Washington between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, both say that it is now time to welcome Sweden into NATO.

    Blinken says that Sweden has carried out an “important and very correct” process to “quiet the concerns expressed by other allies”.

    Turkey and Hungary are the only NATO countries that have not approved Sweden’s application.

  • Nigeria: At least 100 dead in boat accident

    Over a hundred people have died in a boat accident in Nigeria, AP reports.

    The boat is said to have capsized early in the morning on the River Niger.

    An intensive search effort for survivors is underway, according to the police.

    At 4:13 p.m., the emergency services were called to Nacka after reports of smoke developing in the nearby forest.

    – Six resources are in place, says SOS Alarm.

    – We can only state that it is one or more people who have seen this happen, says police spokesperson Rickard Lundqvist.

    The man has been taken to hospital by ambulance, but his condition is unclear.

    The police are now looking for one or more perpetrators. They have cordoned off an area and are collecting witness information.

    Special search dogs are used to find traces of firearms and drones are on the scene to get an overview of the crime scene, the police write on their website.

    Forensic technicians are on their way to the scene.

    The man is seriously injured, states Region Skåne.

  • Lower inflation than expected in the US

    American inflation is slowing down, writes TT.

    The inflation rate amounted to 4.0 percent at an annual rate in May compared to 4.9 percent the previous month.

    According to the Bloomberg news agency, analysts had on average expected inflation of 4.1 percent in May.

    Today’s figure is seen as a heavy factor ahead of the interest rate announcement later this week from the American central bank, the Federal Reserve. The fact that inflation continues to moderate is interpreted as the Fed could take a break in interest rate increases to continue evaluating the effect of the new monetary policy.

  • Girl was abducted – five are sentenced

    Five men are sentenced for involvement in a case when two sisters were taken away from their LVU placement and out of the country, writes Halmstad district court.

    The sentence concerns only one of the sisters, who was twelve years old at the time of the abduction.

    Three of the men are sentenced for gross arbitrariness with children and two for aiding and abetting the crime. The punishment for two of the men will be imprisonment for 18 and 16 months, respectively. The other three are sentenced to suspended sentences.
