As with every Tuesday, players can expect routine and announced Destiny 2 server downtime. Despite the anger and frustration, Bungie continues to work to improve the stability and reliability of the server infrastructure. MeinMMO informs you before and during the update in this article.
What you need to know today: Destiny 2 faced a massive server outage this past holiday, causing great annoyance and lengthy downtime for players. So the fact that gamers hate server downtime comes as no surprise.
Still, and Bungie also pointed this out, server issues and downtime remain inevitable as the game’s complexity and the amount of players online at the same time pose a challenge for a live service game as comprehensive as Destiny 2.
However, today’s update is back on schedule, with early notice from Bungie so players can spend all day mentally preparing for it. The developer is also aware of the importance of smooth server performance and will try to keep the server down as short as possible.
Maintenance update history 7.1.0.2on June 13:
7:45 p.m.: Round 2 of the Server Down – Destiny is extending maintenance again. However, not with a fixed end time, but only with the postponement by another hour. So the end of the downtime could be around 8:45 p.m. – if everything works out.
On Twitter, the guardians of Bungie are already warning of a “This Week at Bungie” blog from May 18th, which states: “We will probably take Destiny 2 offline for an hour and a half on our update days, […] which should make the gaming experience more stable and reliable”.
7:15 p.m.: While Destiny 2 is still offline, you can already read about the bugs Bungie fixed in today’s maintenance update. As always, we will link you to the exact patch notes at the end of this article.
6:45 p.m.: Bad news. Bungie just extended the downtime. Apparently not everything is going according to plan again today – but what exactly is going on remains uncertain. The support team will provide more information about this in 1 hour.
5:15 p.m.: You got a little weak today, considering the old shimmer on the horizon. But since that’s not playable at the moment, let’s go back to the tried and tested: Destiny 2. Because you can’t play that anymore either. The servers just went offline for maintenance. You can read how long this will take today in our timeline below.
Maintenance on 06/13 – All times to the server down
These times are important today: Bungie has informed players of the exact times via Twitter. The scheduled downtime for today is currently 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Here is the exact maintenance schedule:
At 4:00 p.m. German time, maintenance work will start in the background on all platforms.
From 5:15 p.m. the servers will go offline and players will be automatically kicked from all activities.
Update 7.1.0.2 will be installed during this time and will then be gradually rolled out.
The expected login should then be possible again around 7:00 p.m., for the weekly reset.
Continuous background maintenance will end at 20:00 if all goes well.
Important: As long as the background maintenance is running, there may be connection problems in the game. In addition, queues can arise when logging in immediately after the update.
Also, keep in mind that third-party applications and the official companion app may also not be accessible correctly for a while, so you won’t be able to use them.
This changes with Update 7.1.0.2 in Season 21
While the full patch notes won’t be available until release, we want to give you a glimpse of some of the issues and changes Bungie plans to address.
MeinMMO first lists the problems that Bungie is already aware of and that will definitely be fixed today:
The additional bounty for the weekly quest “Last Wish” granted by Hawthorne was not intentional and is now gone. Bungie had this bug in the game for a while for the benefit of the players, but will now fix it.
Beginning with today’s patch, players will receive a deep sight weapon for it.
The Evensong of Radius Armor Exo is re-enabled. Bungie has reworked it so that it will no longer behave as explosively on certain weapons.
Solar Bracers will restore the increased duration of Solar Grenades.
The strange interactions of the titan exo Khepris Horn will also be fixed, so that it will be reactivated as well.
Fixed an issue that allowed certain grenades to penetrate barricades and Dusk Wards.
The PvP perk “Collective Action” will be nerfed (10% damage increase instead of 20%).
The new Leaping Overrange Competitive Sniper Rifle is getting a larger aiming crosshair to make it easier to use.
These issues are still on Bungie’s to-do list to fix:
Bungie is investigating performance degradation when loading the Eververse/Store tab.
The Recommendations screen is displayed during dive activities only after the activity completion timer has expired.
There is a scannable console during the Operation Thunderbolt (Twilight) mission, however, it does not contain or provide any intended audio, dialogue, or Triumph content when scanned.
Previous Season ranks above 100 are displayed incorrectly in the Journey tab.
PvP players are increasingly complaining about an unsustainable lobby imbalance in trials and in competitive lobbies.
The new Season of the Deep exotics will not drop from the Neomuna Vex event.
In HyperWeb Strike on Neomuna, dying a player in the boss arena can cause a player’s spirit to get stuck in the ground.
After focusing an Adept Trial weapon from Saint-14, subsequent focuses will not show that the original requirement of having a 7 win Trial card is still there.
Freezing while using the new Titan exo, Thorn Guardian, can sometimes cause players to lose the Barricade class ability. Respawning after the player dies or equipping and re-equipping the exotic restores the intended class ability.
The chest jewel of the Warlock’s Courturier Longcloak has a hole under the right arm.
Enhanced crafted weapons cannot apply or preview memory shaders.
The Catalyst cooldown timer for The Navigator Exotic Trace Rifle is missing a description and appears as a blank timer when activated.
Athrys’ Embrace hunter exo weapons do not display the Empowered Heavy Knife popup when activated in the Crucible. Players should note that it still works as intended, just missing the visual indicator.
The shotgun’s glare “Until we return” is separate from the weapon.
The Wisher exotic bow does not reliably shoot through Cabal and Hydra shields.
The Titan’s Exo-Helmet “Helmet of the 14th Saint” is not working as expected.
Using the Escape Artist Exotic Warlock Gloves to refresh the Arckus sentient soul before it is fully disabled will cause the soul’s fire rate to decrease until it is fully disabled.
The Hunter Exo’s “Lucky Pants” damage boost is inconsistent and currently increases damage by up to 600% when used specifically.
Changing the platform setting “Others can communicate by voice, text, or invites” will not take effect until the game is restarted.
Error codes are still being investigated – including PLUM and MONKEY.
Player name changes are not infinitely customizable through bungie.net. Several “Number Guardians” continue to wait here for the option to change their player name again, instead of getting the “You don’t have any name changes available” message.
