This summer, in different cities in France, families with children can take advantage of a whole host of festivals designed for the youngest. The opportunity for children to have fun, but also in some cases to learn a little more about history or the world of art. Some festivals have even become a not-to-be-missed event over the years. If you want to plan activities with your children, here are the festivals scheduled for summer 2023their dates and their programs.
1 – Little Films Festival (all over France)
If your child loves movies and cinema, this is the event not to be missed! Little Films Festival celebrates its 5th anniversary and for the occasion, the event dedicated to the screening of films for children aged 3 to 10 has planned a whole program. In more than 500 partner cinemas throughout France, special screenings and events are organized for children and their families. From June 24 to September 3, 2023. 2 – Abracadabra Festival (Montpellier)
THE Abracadabra-Festival is a 100% digital detox Montpellier event! Parents and their children aged 0 to 12 are invited to take advantage of various activities in a magnificent setting: circus workshops, outdoor games, a life-size treasure hunt, or even a labyrinth to explore. New this year: a space specially reserved for toddlers from 0 to 3 years old with a nursery area, a reading area and conferences on parenting for parents. 3 – Idéklic Festival (Jura)
THE Ideklic festival offers a double program with shows and workshops. Kids can try their hand at toddler yoga, or string puppetry, magic, theater or opera. Workshops around road safety, acrobatic dance, climbing, origami, chess, etc., are also organised. From July 12 to 15, 2023 in Moirans-en-Montagne in the Jura. 4 – Festival Potes de Marmot’s (Hautes-Alpes)
Direction Guillestre, at the entrance to Queyras, in the Hautes-Alpes to discover the2023 edition of the Potes de Marmot’s festival. Each year, this festival brings together more than ten artistic companies that offer workshops and activities for young and old. Shows, brass bands, dances, musical walks, clown writing workshops, night walks, you will be spoiled for choice among a multitude of possibilities. 5 – Summer Festival of the P’tits Futés – Darius Milhaud Theater (Paris)
This summer, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, the festival The summer of the P’tits Futés. An event dedicated to all forms of art, theatre, puppetry, clowning, dance, music, video. For its 17th edition, the festival has planned an eclectic program throughout the summer and shows suitable for all ages, in order to awaken the minds and imaginations of children and adults. 6 – The Théâtre de Verdure holds its festival at the Shakespeare Garden (Île-de-France)
The largest open-air theater festival, The Greenery Theater of the Shakespeare Garden, returns this year. Open to all, it once again offers a varied selection of shows combining theatre, music and thought-reading for adults, but particularly for the youngest, including adapted versions of great classical works. 7 – Place aux Mômes Festival (Brittany)
Head to Brittany for the Place aux Mômes festival. Whether you live in Plougasnou, Arzon, Cancale, Perros-Guirec or Saint-Cast-le Guildo, this fsummer 100% free traveling will come to you throughout the summer. All the shows take place outdoors and are accessible to children from 3 years old and their families: song, theatre, contortion, clowns, there is something for everyone. 8 – Au Bonheur des Mômes Festival (Haute-Savoie)
Au Bonheur des Mômes festival is dedicated to performing arts is a veritable institution celebrating its 31st edition! Each year, it is renewed to offer original and varied programming for young audiences. In 2022, young festival-goers had the chance to discover live shows and enjoy a fun fair set up for the occasion. From August 20 to 24, 2023 in Grand-Bornand in Haute-Savoie. 9 – Arelate Festival, Roman Days of Arles (Provence)
For its 17th edition, the Arelate festival, Roman days of Arles plan to impress budding little historians! THE city of Arles is transformed for a few days so that families can live in Roman times. For the occasion, the city’s heritage is highlighted through fun workshops, songs, street performances and grandiose reconstructions, but also the distribution of peplum films and the Disney film Hercules. All this in a setting unique in the world, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the ancient theater and the Roman amphitheater. 10 – Kids Festival of Montbéliard (Doubs)
The kid’s festival de Montbéliard is a unique cultural, fun and educational event for children aged 18 months to 13 years. This year, for its 21st edition, travel and escape will be at the heart of the festival. The organizers have planned several theater performances, street performances, workshops and play areas.
