Last season, GVVV was in the battle with ACV for the title in the third division on Saturday, but the team from Assen was slightly stronger. Hercules finished third behind champion ADO’20 and number 2 VVSB. In the first round of the play-offs, GVVV was too strong for Limburg’s Groene Ster, Hercules made mincemeat of IJsselmeervogels. According to IJsselmeervogels coach Gert Jan Karsten, who played against GVVV as Urk’s trainer at the beginning of the season and therefore knows both teams, Hercules is the favourite.
