Zlatan Ibrahimovic has ended his career.
Now many in Sweden want a chance to thank the icon.
Now the national team reveals the plan for him.
Sweden’s best football player of all time has given thanks. On Sunday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stepped out onto the San Siro pitch, after the last game of the season, and thanked the fans for everything. His retirement from football has received the attention of the whole world, and not least of Sweden.
Not thanked
The praise Zlatan Ibrahimovic received from Milan was powerful, and it was of course well deserved that the Swede received that praise. But there are also many in Sweden who want the chance to thank the icon, and shortly Sweden will play a training match against New Zealand at home in Sweden. A perfect location for taking off – some think. But it won’t be like that.
Now the Swedish Football Association is making a statement about whether or not Zlatan’s departure will take place, and the answer is that at least it won’t happen during this national team gathering, in June.
– There is nothing planned for this gathering, says national team manager Jens T Andersson to Expressen.

Revealing the plan
The reasons are many, but Jens T Andersson himself has not had time to sit down and talk to Zlatan after the farewell.
– On the one hand, it is too short a time, I have not been in contact with Zlatan and as far as I know, no one else has discussed this with him either, on the other hand there are better opportunities than that window which will now have a withdrawal for him .
Jens T Andersson otherwise has high hopes that Ibrahimovic will be interested in some type of role within the association, and when Zlatan is ready, they will sit down with him.
– It is clear that when that day comes when we can sit down and discuss, the question will be asked if he can be there and contribute in one way or another. He has not wanted to discuss it before on the basis that he has still been a player and we have obviously respected that. Now it is clear that it would not be particularly well thought out of us not to ask the question to someone who has that experience and who has had the career that he has had. So, we definitely will.
