We can never repeat it enough, Resident Evil is a lucrative license for Capcom, and the latest sales figures for the episode Resident Evil Village prove once again that it is the goose that lays the golden egg of the Japanese publisher. With 8 million copies sold worldwide as of May 31, 2023, Resident Evil Village is therefore a nice commercial success. However, this is not the best performance of the series, since episodes such as Resident Evil 2 Remake have achieved more convincing performances. It should however be remembered that among the episodes in subjective view, in the skin of Ethan Winters, the figures are very correct. Of course, Capcom will continue to capitalize on this and hope that the VR version can continue to sell the game to its audience. Here is the list of numbers for each of the recent Resident Evil.
Resident Evil 5 (March 2009): 13.7 million
Resident Evil 6 (October 2012): 10.9 million
Resident Evil VII (January 2017): 12 million
Resident Evil 2 Remake (January 2019): 11.9 million
Resident Evil 3 Remake (April 2020): 7 million
Resident Evil Village (May 2021): 8 million
Resident Evil 4 Remake (March 2023): 4 million
