Zlatan Ibrahimovic has put his shoes on the shelf.
He has been praised by the vast majority in recent days.
But now there is also major criticism of the 41-year-old.
On Sunday evening came the shock news that many still feared but still didn’t think would happen. Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced to the whole football world that the career is officially over.
Zlatan’s farewell
The 41-year-old was extremely emotional when he dropped the bomb in connection with Milan’s last game of the season. Since then, “Ibra” has been praised by the vast majority for his fantastic football career and how unique he has been both as a sportsman and as a person in the 21st century.

But not everyone is as lyrical because there has also been a lot of criticism directed at Ibrahimovic after the big farewell to football. The DN reporter Ebbe Gertten is now venting his clear irritation due to the fact that he is from Malmö.
“I stood hand in hand with dad and nervously waited for you to come out of the worn dressing room. You greeted me kindly, breaking into your patented smile. I was embarrassed that my big idol was standing there right in front of me. You left behind a signed idol card “To Ebbe from Zlatan”. What remained was a saved five-year-old who would worship you deeply,” he writes in a column on Dagens Nyheter about his first meeting with Zlatan.

Criticism of Ibra
Gertten’s favorite team is Malmö FF and he, like many other MFF supporters, feels extremely let down by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. After the Swedish superstar suddenly became a co-owner in Hammarby, which resulted in his statue being completely destroyed in Malmö.
“We have defended you when you made crude and misogynistic statements. You have played with our emotions, hinted that one day you will return home and save us again. We have erected a statue of you. But three weeks after the monument to your greatness was erected, you chose to deceive us with another. One you said was much nicer than us. Your affair with Hammarby is as unfortunate as it is illogical. The removed statue had to become the symbol of a broken love and a heartache that I will probably never get over,” he writes in his column.

Many Malmöites who grew up with Zlatan as their great idol and role model today have a very sensitive relationship with him. This is very clearly visible in columnist Ebbe Gertten’s clear criticism in his text.
“Part of me and my childhood died the day you chose to sell your Malmö soul. I was deceived by my great idol in front of the whole world. The memories and pride of having shared the same hometown can no longer be felt. The five-year-old who embarrassedly stood with the idol card in hand has been deceived, and the star does not seem to regret it at all. When you now end your football career, I move on with a shrug of the shoulders but with a sadness in my chest”, he writes as a conclusion in the column.
