One Piece actor trained his hands bloody for Netflix adaptation

In a lengthy interview for ZERO.NINE magazine, the British-Spanish actor spoke about the extreme preparation for his One Piece role. He revealed that he trained incredibly hard for the role of the high-pressure chef with the iconic kick:

I’ve never become a psycho like this. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever worked for in my life.

Skylar is said to have started with one hour of daily training, which then increased to two, four, six and finally eight hours of training per day. Taking to Twitter, One Piece director Marc Jobst commented on Skylar’s magazine interview with an anecdote from the set that underscores the actor’s extreme preparation:

Oh man this guy. Trained so hard, so dedicated. An inspiration to look at. As for the cooking, every now and then he’d come up with another great dish to try out, albeit with bloody hands cut while learning knife techniques!
