Few statistical news in the economic area are presented this week. Nor are there any decisive interim reports from the largest companies.

Such information can help investors answer their most important question: Which will come first, recession or declining inflation that will prompt the Federal Reserve to start cutting interest rates? The interest rate has now risen to a level that it is damaging the economy in several respects.

The broad S&P 500 index rose 0.2 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed unchanged and the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.4 percent.
