Top start, the summer video game season has begun. And with it many announcements on the publisher side, of which we bring you the best.
Every year, summer marks the start of hostilities for video game enthusiasts. This summer gaming season traditionally includes two of the biggest shows in the gaming world, the famous and venerable E3 and the youngest Summer Game Fest. Except that this year, things have changed with the total disappearance of E3, canceled once again after more than three years of postponements or digital editions. But the fall of this true gaming institution, neglected by the biggest players in video games, has left a real boulevard for the Summer Game Fest, which will be alone in charge in 2023. The fault of greater flexibility which convinced Xbox & Bethesda in particular, as well as other major exhibitors such as Ubisoft and Playstation. We take stock of the five most anticipated games of the Summer Game Fest just below.
5 – Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Developed for 6 years now by Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an extremely ambitious open-world game that aims to bring the universe of James Cameron’s films to our gaming platforms for the first time. elsewhere a turning point for Ubisoft, which must raise the bar after five catastrophic years (-70% in stock market value). 4 – Silent Hill 2 Remake
So it might not be the sexiest name you’ll find on this list, but it sure is one of the most anticipated games of Summer Game Fest 2023. Silent Hill 2 Complete Remake is in full swing. way into the Bloober Team studios, which should provide us with a fully remastered version of this masterpiece of horror games by the end of 2023. Enough to plunge back into the fog of the most mute of the United States in the best of conditions on PS5 and PC exclusively.
3 – Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC
Among the most eventful stories in the history of gaming, Cyberpunk 2077 could easily occupy the first page of the encyclopedia. Released in a disastrous state before gradually recovering over two years of constant updates, it’s now one of the most acclaimed open-world role-playing games around. Which explains the excitement around its Phantom Liberty DLC, which should bring a whole new chapter in V’s story, and a whole new area to visit in Night City. Add to that the participation of Idris Elba in a scenario with planetary stakes, and you have an explosive cocktail that we expect on the opening night of the Summer Game Fest, on June 8th.
2- EA Sports FC
You may or may not have heard of it, but the collaboration between Electronic Arts and the International Football Federation ended in 2022. In other words, the FIFA game franchise is over, leaving a big void in the very popular genre of football simulations. If FIFA claims to be working on its side on a new genre of games involving in particular the dreaded NFTs, Electronic Arts has taken its destiny into its own hands to provide its own license for football games: EA Sports FC. However, we are still waiting for images of this important project, images which could arrive at the beginning of July during the EA Play conference. Case to follow.
1-Starfield
How not to talk about Starfield in this context of Summer Game Fest. Bethesda’s project will be revealed to us in detail during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase on June 11 at 9 a.m., where a show specially dedicated to it will also be broadcast. As a reminder, Starfield is the next solo game from Bethesda, an open-world role-playing game transporting us to an unknown universe where humanity has already set out to conquer the stars. We obviously expect a behemoth game, both technically and in terms of its lifespan, enough to make us wait until Elder Scrolls 6.
