  • Record number of cases of gonorrhea and syphilis in the UK

    The number of cases of gonorrhea and syphilis soared last year in the UK, according to the country’s equivalent of the Public Health Agency, reports Sky News.

    The number of gonorrhea cases increased to a total of 82,592 cases in 2022, a 50 percent increase compared to 2021.

    It is also the highest measured number of cases since 1918.

    The number of syphilis cases rose to 8,692 last year, an increase of just over 15 percent compared to 2021, and the highest recorded number since 1948.

    The diagnoses usually affect people between the ages of 15 and 24, and are usually sexually transmitted.

  • Woman abused staff – threw beer can in face

    The police have been called to a shop in Västerås where a 55-year-old woman is fighting and throwing things at the staff.

    Among other things, she has thrown a full beer can that hit a store employee in the face.

    After the commotion, the woman is said to have left the store on foot. She was later found in the area and has now been taken into custody as she was intoxicated.

    She is also suspected of assault.

  • Showed weapons in live stream – were soft air guns

    During the night of Tuesday, the police in Arvika were alerted by several people about a 55-year-old man who showed off weapons in a live stream on social media, reports SVT Värmland.

    The police were called to the scene with a large police resource with reinforcement weapons.

    Once at the scene, a house search was carried out and it turned out that all the weapons were soft air guns.

    – Considering how the situation looks with firearm violence in the country today, we have to deal with it in this way if we receive this type of information, says Peter Persson, officer on duty at the police, to SVT.

    There are no suspicions of crime.

  • Lack of TBE vaccine

    Availability of TBE vaccine is poor in large parts of the country, reports SVT Uppsala.

    According to the Swedish Medicines Agency, it is difficult to say how extensive the shortage is locally, but that pharmaceutical companies have difficulty meeting production requirements when many people are getting vaccinated.

    – Several, but not all, packages are listed with the pharmaceutical companies, says Samuel Silkestrand, investigator, Medical Products Agency, to SVT.

  • Man with cuts appeared in residential area – three arrested

    During the night, a man was found with cuts in Huddinge south of Stockholm.

    Police and an ambulance were called to a villa in Ågesta after the injured man rang the doorbell of the villa and asked for help.

    Later during the night, the police were able to locate the suspected crime scene to a residence in Farsta in southern Stockholm.

    Three men who were in the home, one of them aged 45 and two in their 20s, were then arrested by the police and are now suspected of serious assault.

    The circumstances surrounding the incident as well as the state of injury of the abused person are still unclear.

  • Single accident on E14 – two injured

    A car has driven off the road on the E14 south of Bräcke in eastern Jämtland and ended up in the ditch.

    Police have been called to the scene and the road has been closed.

    – Two people have been taken to hospital, one by ambulance helicopter and the other by ground ambulance, says Ola Nilsson, according to SOS Alarm’s press service.

    There is currently no information on the state of damage.

    The road was completely closed while waiting for the ambulance helicopter to land on the roadway.

    Traffic was released shortly after 08:00.

    The alarm came in at 06:47.

  • An injured person during a mountain hike – was picked up by an ambulance helicopter

    During the night, the police were alerted about an injured person who was on a hiking trail in the area around Fröstsjön in Härjedalen.

    The alarm came in around 00:00 and mountain rescuers were called to the scene.

    They helped the person to an ambulance helicopter which took the injured person to hospital.

    The extent of the damage is unclear.

    – It was about a person who fell and hit himself, says Elisabeth Glaas, at the police command centre.

  • Nursing staff are offered 100,000 to move on vacation

    Healthcare staff in all 21 regions of the country have been offered money to postpone their vacation. It shows a mapping that DN done.

    In Norrbotten, staff have been offered SEK 100,000 to move all four holiday weeks – but the staff are tired.

    – I want my vacation, says a nurse to DN.

    The compensation amount varies between regions.

  • Ukraine: Kakhovka dam has exploded

    The Kakhovka power plant dam in southern Ukraine has exploded, the state-run Ukrainian news agency Ukriniform reports.

    In a video, published by BNO News can be seen how the dam has burst in the middle and water is rushing through them.

    On social media, the Ukrainian Southern Military Command writes that Russia is behind it.

  • New explosions in Kyiv

    Ukraine’s capital Kiev was attacked again with robots during the night, the city’s military leadership said. Over 20 robots are said to have been destroyed by the Ukrainian air defense.

    Falling debris is said to have caused damage to roads, power lines and buildings, but no injuries have been reported so far.

    Mayor Vitaly Klytchko writes on Telegram about several explosions in the capital.

  • Explosion in residential area

    An explosion occurred in a residential area in Tumba, south of Stockholm, during the night towards Tuesday. The police were alerted at 02:31 and on site found damage to a garage or storage building adjacent to a chain house.

    – There was a woman at home in the house, but we have no information about personal injuries, says Mikael Pettersson, commander at the police’s regional command center.

    A preliminary investigation into public-dangerous devastation has been initiated.

  • Bang at gate – police on scene

    Police and emergency services were called to an apartment building in Strängnäs after a loud bang just before 01:00.

    – There is a slight smell of gunpowder at a gate, but no material damage has been detected. Everything points to the fact that it was a fireworks display, says police officer on duty Lars-Göran Nilseryd.

  • “Serious crime of violence” outdoors

    A “serious crime of violence” occurred just after 11.30pm outdoors in Motala, the police stated on their website.

    Later in the night, officers on duty confirmed that one man is dead and another injured. One person is arrested, suspected of murder.

  • The alarm: As little water this year as in 2018

    The first summer month has just begun, but even now the citizens of Sölves have been bound by a water ban.

    The reason is the drought in May, which also caused the water in Blekinge’s rivers to dry up. The levels are now at the same figures as in 2018 with its historically severe drought in Sweden.
