Norfolk County Community Days gets underway on on Saturday (June 3).
The Waterford Lions are holding a ‘touch-a-truck’ event at the at the Waterford Tricenturena from 10 am to 2 pm The event includes a barbecue, an outdoor kids play zone and mascots including Chase from Paw Patrol.
“I couldn’t be more excited for community days,” Norfolk County Mayor Amy Martin said. “Last year’s event was a hit and staff have done an amazing job of building off of that success.
“Council and I are looking forward to seeing everyone enjoying activities in and about the county throughout the week.”
During community days, community centres, museums, libraries, fire halls, pools, arenas and parks across Norfolk will provide free recreational and cultural activities. For a complete list of events, dates, and times visit www.norfolkcounty.ca/living/norfolk-community-day/ .
Other events scheduled for Saturday (June 3) included a Langton Fire Station tour from 2 pm to 4 pm a Langton Lions barbecue, a concert from 4 pm to 9:30 pm followed by fireworks.
Residents are invited to spend Sunday afternoon (June 4) in the park with Norfolk Fire at Quance Dam in Delhi from 1 pm to 4 pm The event includes music, magic and a small market.
Other weekend events include:
– A free drop-in bird banding demonstration, children’s crafts and open house from 10 am. to 12 pm June 4 at the Long Point Bird Observatory and Birds Canada.
– Sandcastle building contest and a water safety awareness tent during Beach Day in Port Dover including a visit by “Dotsy The Clown” from 11 am to 3 pm on June 4.
– Beach Day in Turkey Point featuring a sandcastle building contest and a giant horseshoe game from 11 am to 3 pm with ice cream treats donated by Breyers on June 4.
Those interested in participating in the sandcastle building contests are required to bring their own bucket, pails and other tools as needed.

The week of activities concludes with a two-day Fairgrounds Festival at the Norfolk County Agricultural Society fairgrounds in Simcoe on June 9 and 10. The festival includes a Norfolk Night Market, live music, artisan vendors, food truck and local beer and wine gardens.
The Friday night (June 9) concert will be headlined by The Beaches while on Saturday Finger Eleven, Sloan and Bif Naked take the stage on June 10.
