Three young people aged 16, 17 and 18 saw a swan which they decided to serve for dinner.
Four baby swans without a mother
It was in the American village of Manlius, outside New York in the United States, that the young people thought they had seen a large duck that they could cook and serve during Memorial Day, the holiday when people who are part of the United States army are recognized and who fell in war.
Instead, they left four baby swans motherless.
– They thought it was a big duck and they didn’t know it was a wild animal, one of the police officers handling the case told NBC News.
The teenagers were arrested on Tuesday and now risk being prosecuted for corresponding theft and negligence in connection with the incident.
The swan’s young are now being cared for by a zookeeper.
