There were news in the German press that the inheritance of the pope was not accepted by his cousin due to the compensation lawsuit filed against Benedict 16, who died at the age of 95 in December 2022.
AMOUNT NOT DISCLOSED
Based on Bayerischer Rundfunk’s daughter, who represents 16th Benedict’s cousin due to her old age, it was claimed that Benedict 16th did not specify a legal heir before he died, and that the closest relative was accepted as the heir according to the Vatican-Italian succession law.
It was claimed that the cousin refused the inheritance, as the compensation case against the ex-pope would be taken over with the inheritance, the amount of which was not disclosed.
In the aforementioned case, a person claiming to be a victim of harassment filed a lawsuit against 1 person whom he said to be the perpetrator, and 4 senior Catholic church administrators.
Cases against him were suspended until it became clear who would be his legal successor after the pope’s death. (AA)
