In February 2023 we received the first message from Live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon. Now the Studio Universal did not hesitate and has already found the two most important stars of the fantasy remake. Whether the computer-animated dragons will resemble their Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon cousins remains to be seen. But the two main human roles are not played by strangers.

Made easy in How to Train Your Dragon the young Viking Hicks wants to become a celebrated dragon hunter like his father, because in his fantasy world these beasts are pursued and brought down. At least until Hiccup finds an injured Nightshade: Toothless. An unexpected friendship develops between man and dragon, and Hicks begins to think they may have misjudged the fearsome creatures. But to convince the Vikings, he needs the help of his girlfriend Astrid.

The remake How to Train Your Dragon does not yet have a concrete German cinema release. In the US, however, a release will be on March 14, 2025 targeted and so it is likely that we can count on the fantasy blockbuster at a similar time in this country.

After Disney has already done it more than 20 times with live-action remakes of animated classics (currently Ariel, the mermaid can be seen in the cinema), the dragon tamers: inside jump on the train to success. With the Hicks-themed animated trilogy grossing more than $1.6 billion, it’s not unlikely that the “real” fantasy return will also attract a large audience to the cinemas.
