On Sunday, the world was shocked when the water in Italy’s Venice’s main canal, the Canal Grande, took on a new color.

Samples from the local environmental protection authority Arpav believe they found traces of the substance fluorescein – which is used to test waste water.

In the Russian city of Krasnodar, signs in languages other than Russian will be banned, reports say Moscow Times.
The reason is that signs in foreign languages are not “particularly patriotic” given the current political situation in the country, according to mayor Yevgeny Naumov.
