Russia’s large-scale military operations in Ukraine have also affected the world of sports. The International Ski Federation (FIS) announced on Friday that it will move all of its World Cup finals away from Russia.
Russia was scheduled to compete in the Skicross World Cup today. Freestyle’s jumps, on the other hand, were on the calendar tomorrow in Yaroslavl.
Back on Thursday, the FIS signaled to SVT that it was not canceling this weekend’s races. Many participants had headed for Russia directly from the Beijing Olympics.
– FIS has decided to postpone or cancel all remaining World Cup events from Russia for the remainder of the season in order to preserve the safety of the participants and the integrity of the World Cup, FIS announced.
In addition to this weekend’s competitions, the decision applies to women’s ski jumping and cross-country skiing. The women’s hill jump was scheduled to compete in Russia on two different weekends in March. The World Cross Country Skiing Cup was to culminate in Tyumen on 18-20 May. March.

Champions League final out of St. Petersburg

In the women’s World Cup qualifiers in April, Ukraine will be the home team in the matches against Hungary and Scotland. Russia play two away matches.
Russia’s Zenit in St. Petersburg dropped out of the Europa League on Thursday as it played an undefeated draw with Real Betis. Betis continued with 3-2 goals. Instead, Moscow’s Spartak will still continue in the Europa League and is set to face German Leipzig in the quarterfinals.
Finland and Sweden withdrew from hockey, the Jokerit from the KHL playoffs
