According to the BBC’s report, the Neuralink social media account described the approval of the brain chip project by the FDA as “an important step that will one day help many people”.
In the statement, it was stated that the Neuralink team received approval thanks to its close cooperation with the FDA, and necessary information will be provided for applications for the experimental phase.
MICROCHIPS WILL BE INSTALLED IN THE BRAIN
With the project in question, Neuralink company aims to treat neurological disorders such as paralysis and blindness, and to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, thanks to microchips to be placed in the brain.
It has been noted that the chips, which were previously tested on monkeys, successfully interpret the signals in the brain and transfer them to the devices.
On the other hand, experts warn that preliminary studies of Neuralink’s brain implants should be done more carefully and comprehensively, taking into account possible technical and safety concerns. (AA)
