An iconic superheroine who is definitely bowing out: here is the film to see on television this Sunday, May 28, 2023.
The Marvel franchise offered origin stories to almost every one of its superheroes, before forming the Avengers band. Until 2021, however, a character had still not had the right to his solo film: the Black Widow embodied by Scarlett Johansson. It is now done with Black Widowbroadcast on television tonight.
The release timing of the film, directed by Cate Shortland, was surprising: Black Widow released in cinemas three years later Avengers: Infinity War, which however takes place well after the feature film worn by Scarlett Johansson. More surprisingly, the film was released after Avengers: Endgame, in which Natasha Romanov heroically sacrifices herself, signing an end to her adventure in the MCU.
Black Widow takes place before the events of these two films, and allows the public to discover the painful past of this spy before confronting Thanos. To thwart a dangerous plot, Natasha Romanoff must reconnect with her family members. This is a farewell letter to this character who finally has the right to his own solo film which pays him a final tribute before the terrible fate that we know him. “He is a character so appreciated” by the fans, noted the director in an interview with Linternaute. “When she died, a lot of people thought we didn’t know enough about her, and we really wanted to break down who she was.”
The film also introduces new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and the Red Guardian (David Harbour), who will soon be found in the Marvel film Thunderboltsoriginally slated for release in 2024. Black Widow by Cate Shortland is to be seen on television this Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 9:10 p.m. on TF1.
