The municipality of Ulricehamn paid for 20 kilos of sirloin steak that a former unit manager then took home himself. He is now being sentenced for unfaithfulness to the principal, writes GP.

The meat was to be used for a municipal barbecue, claims the former head of the unit, who has always denied any wrongdoing. He also says that he returned the meat when the barbecue was cancelled.

However, the rest of the staff are not aware of any barbecue and the return has not been registered with the municipality. In addition, the purchase itself was divided into two other businesses and not entered as usual in the municipality’s system.

The district court sentences the man to SEK 9,200 in daily fines. He must also pay the municipality SEK 7,864 in damages, the cost of the meat excluding VAT.
