Deadline coaxed some new plot info from the cult director into The Movie Critic. As Tarantino explained, the main character of the film is a critic writing for a porn magazine. In the film, the magazine is called The Popstar Pages.
Tarantino describes the main character as vulgar, cynical character, who in his early to mid-30s wrote more like a 55-year-old. The audience should imagine a mix of early US radio host Howard Stern and Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver if he had been a film critic.
